Samsung unveiled their latest flagship today -- the Samsung Galaxy S8, and you can be sure that this new Android-powered smartphone comes with plenty of features that will certainly make iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus owners pout, wondering whether having the ability to capture photos of their boyfriends with depth effect is all that matters in life. What are some of the key features that make the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ outdo the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus from Apple?

Infinity Display
A rose by any other name would smell just as sweet. Samsung has decided to christen its display as an “Infinity Display.” Simply put, what your eyes see is to be believed for yourself in real life. Apple has continued to lag behind in terms of display technology and size, and Samsung pulls ahead with another gear thanks to the all new Infinity Display. Sporting a front that has 83% screen, you will hardly notice the side bezels. The fact that the display is an all-new Quad HD+ Super AMOLED? This ups the ante even more, and right now, you will not be able to get anything better than this on the market on either side of iOS or Android. Bear in mind the likes of the LG G6 too, has far more screen size compared to what Apple’s iPhone offers.

Curved edges
Moving on from being a gimmick with the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, the symmetrical curved front as well as back glass on the new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ ensure that this is far from being marketing fluff. The design of the curved edges ensure that these two flagship devices are a whole lot thinner than they actually are, being so easy and comfortable to hold in your hand, it is a snap for one handed operation.

Use your Galaxy S8 as a portable desktop
Want to work while you are on the move? Microsoft might also shiver with the Galaxy S8’s release, thanks to the all new DeX Station accessory. This DeX Station accessory lets Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+ owners dock their handset, and hook up to a monitor, keyboard and mouse, working within a desktop-optimized Android environment. It does carry a strong resemblance to Chrome OS, but that is to be expected. All apps can be accessed while in desktop mode, although Samsung has ensured that their own stable of apps will arrive optimized for the Desktop Experience. Microsoft has also jumped on board, ensuring that their mobile Office suite, too, has been optimized in the same way. Will there be a market for the Microsoft Surface after this? Probably, but it ought to see some cannibalization of sales.

Face recognition
Both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will also come with full facial recognition capability, thanks to the improved 8MP front-facing camera. At this moment, face recognition is used for unlocking the handset only. There will no doubt be future functions added on with due updates.

Iris scanner
The presence of an Iris Scanner is a continuation of the Galaxy Note 7’s legacy -- at least something good came out of that self-combusting smartphone. Standing out from the rest of the crowd, you can an extra layer of mobile security with an Iris Scanner as opposed to just having fingerprint recognition.

Bixby plays nice with Google Assistant
Want to use Google Assistant? No problem. Feel like switching over to Samsung’s very own Bixby? Go ahead. Samsung offers the choice for both virtual personal assistants without requiring you to sell your firstborn to them to stick to just one.

All-new 10nm processor
With the Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 processors being 10nm chips, this means Samsung has edged Apple out this time around where the 10nm processor is concerned. With such a manufacturing process, this means one will be able to enjoy quantum leaps of improvement where performance and efficiency are concerned. No doubt Apple will hit back with the iPhone 8 when it arrives later this year with a 10nm chip of their own, but until then, Samsung is king of the hill.

Wireless and fast charging
Wireless charging support continues with the latest iteration of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ handsets, which is something that the iPhone continues to lack over the past few years. The new flagships come with Qi and Samsung’s own fast wireless charging technology for added convenience whenever the juice starts to run low. Not only that, its spacious 3,000 mAh and 3,500 mAh batteries can also be fully charged within the shortest time possible thanks to fast-charging technology, all without having to fork out a single cent more as iPhone users have to pay through their nose for a 12W iPad power adapter simply to gain a slight edge in charging times for their iPhones.

Well, just how well do you think the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will hold up against the iPhone 8? The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are definitely poor contenders for Samsung’s latest device, that is for sure!
