Hong Kong – On Apr 8, 2005, Hong Kong district Catholics held a Sabbatical mass to mourn the pope at Christ the King Chapel, St. Paul’s Convent, Causeway Bay. Over 7,000 people attended including Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tseng and a group of foreign ambassadors. Hong Kong district Bishop Joseph Zen led Psalm singing and prayer, praying that pope can find rest. During the service, he complimented the pope as a giant who believed in righteousness.

The directing committee specially prepared a candle-lit ceremony. Youth who met the pope can participate in expression of their willingness to commit in the pope's spirit of establishing churches, expanding righteousness, and carving a peaceful and bright world.

Because the number of participants exceeded the maximum capacity of the church, not only did the church open the space outside the chapel, but they also opened up an auditorium space to accommodate the believers for viewing live broadcasting.
