Sydney Anglican Archbishop Peter Jensen is due to open the spectacular $5.65 million conference site, Waterslea, on the Shoalhaven River on Saturday 8 November, 2003.
The new centre sleeps more than 130 people, with rooms including ensuites, air conditioning and balconies overlooking the lush countryside and the River. It also has four conference and meeting rooms, a games room, a dining room catering for 200 people and a 25 metre swimming pool.
The centre, built by Anglican Youthworks, will be used during the week mostly for school outdoor education camps. Children will be able to experience abseiling, canoeing, archery, caving, bushwalking and lots more.
On weekends, the centre will cater for church, family and community groups of up to 200 people.
More than 400 people are expected to attend Waterslea’s opening this Saturday.
Celebrations will run from 10am-4pm and will include site tours, games, swimming and lunch accompanied by the smooth jazz of Ivor Gilhooly and his band, Level 1.
Archbishop Jensen will officially open the centre during a ceremony starting at 2pm.
