Bethany Dillon Tops Australian Chart

16 year-old singer/songwriter Bethany Dillon's debut single, "Beautiful," has just been named Song of the Year by Australia's national Christian music chart system, The Rock Across Australia. The honor is one of many Dillon has received as the media highlights the best of 2004 and predicts the best of 2005.

Editors at ChristianityToday.com listed Dillon among the Best New Artists of 2004, saying, "Every year, it seems like there's a new talent that manages to surprise us all 'with a maturity beyond her age.' That...has never been truer than for Bethany Dillon, who wrote and recorded her debut at the age of 15. This personable singer/songwriter already has the mature introspection and insight of Jennifer Knapp, Sheryl Crow, Jewel, and even a young Amy Grant (she even covers Grant's "Lead Me On" on her debut)."

In the CCM magazine Critics' Picks 2004, posted online, contributing editor Michael Ciani included Bethany Dillon's self-titled debut in his Top Ten favorites, simply stating, "I hope I'm this mature when I grow up." Editor Jay Swartzendruber also ranked BETHANY DILLON among his best discs of 2004 and said, "Her depth of soul and talent reminds me of the first time I heard Sixpence None the Richer."

In related news, Dillon graces the January/February 2005 cover of Campus Life magazine.
