Chaldean Christians Transferred to America for Asylum

MEXICO CITY – Eleven Christians from Mexico entered the United States seeking asylum, March 25. The migrants were arrested earlier in the Month in Mexico, and were transferred to San Diego where the U.S. immigration officials are considering their request.

The eleven, members of the Chaldean Christian denomination face severe persecution in Mexico; they often enter via a plea for asylum. Their numbers have grown into a sizable community in Southern California.

Border control has recently tightened their monitoring of the Mexico-United States border. They hope to filter out any terrorists that may enter through Mexico to launch their attack; there has been no evidence of international terrorism in Mexico.
