China is currently experiencing a rapid growth in both the government-approved churches and the underground churches despite the restrictions and the persecutions, leaving America feeling the intensity of their faith.

However, with the number of Bibles distributed, from the two state-recognized "patriotic" religious associations China Christian Council (CCC) and the Catholic Patriotic Association, compared to the growth of the churches, Forum 18 News Service reported that there is an ongoing shortage of Bibles and Christian literature.

For the past 20 years, the CCC has worked with Amity Press in Nanjing and the United Bible Societies in producing 35 million Bibles and New Testaments for China.

Although the need for Bibles, especially in the rural areas of China, has surpassed the distribution points availability as well as the Scriptures that are delivered by vans throughout China.

Due to the shortage, many new converts are left without a Bible of their own, but organizations such as the American Bible Society whose partner is the United Bible Society has recently launched a fundraising project called "Scriptures for the People in China," which will provide the necessary paper for Bibles to be published.
