Disney World Resort in Orlando, Fla., announced this year’s lineup for “Night of Joy,” its annual Christian music concert showcase.
Now facing their 22nd year, it will feature 24 acts on three consecutive nights. September 9-11, including the first-ever Thursday evening “Night of Joy.” Due to early sellouts in the early years, Walt Disney World President, Al Weiss, added the third night.
"The demand for wholesome family entertainment like that provided by Night of Joy increases every year,” Weiss said. “So we are expanding our offerings - and we hope our guests will enjoy the result.”
The lineup consists of several Dove- and Grammy Award-winning artists, including many of this year's Dove Awards nominees. The Thursday, Sept. 9 lineup is made up of Michael W. Smith, Avalon, Jars of Clay, Point of Grace, 4HIM, FFH, Mark Schultz and Across the Sky. The Friday night's acts include Steven Curtis Chapman, Third Day, Rebecca St. James, Skillet, Stryper, SONICFLOOd, downhere and Warren Barfield. The event concludes on Saturday with performances by Kirk Franklin, Jaci Velasquez, CeCe Winans, 12 Stones, Salvador, Jeremy Camp, Joy Williams and Jump5.
A total of 96 different artists have been a part of "Night of Joy" since its inception in 1983 with more than 800,000 people in attendance, according to the Walt Disney World Resort.
This event will add onto the Magical World of Disney, as people gather and experience the true magic: the amazing grace and joy from above!
