The police identified and arrested five suspects in connection to the gruesome crime committed on October 29th in which three Christian girls were beheaded on their way to Christian school and another girl critically wounded. However, the violence continued in Poso, Indonesia as two more Christian girls were reportedly injured critically by gunshots to the head.

The Indonesian police announced on Wednesday the arrest of five men believed to be connected to the murder case. None of the names of the five suspects were revealed, nor was it clear who made the arrests.

Deputy national police spokesman Soenarko Artanto told the press that the police are still investigating the roles of the suspects in the murder.

However, the evening before the arrest, two more Christian girls were caught in the chain of violence as they were delivered to the hospital after being shot in the head by gunmen at point blank, according to International Christian Concern. Both of them were critically wounded.

The two victims were 17-year-old "Yuli" Siti Nuranini and Ivone. According to the paramedics, Ivone was shot in the left jaw and Yuli was wounded in the neck.

News of the beheading of three Christian girls shocked the world. Newspaper throughout Indonesia condemned the murder as inhumane. The president of Indonesia quickly reacted to the incident by sending over a thousand police to the city to keep peace between Muslim and Christian factions. The incident stirred protests within the city.

Poso was the center of Christian-Muslim conflicts in Indonesia from 1998 to 2001. The new act of violence has drawn fears that inter-religious violence might arise once again in the troubled city.
