Greg Laurie, pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship, recently spoke at a European evangelism conference in Berlin, urging Christians to rediscover their shared calling to spread the Gospel. Speaking to an international audience, Laurie stressed that evangelism is not reserved for pastors or missionaries, but is a mission for “ordinary people with willing hearts.”

According to CP, Laurie pointed to biblical examples like David and Gideon—figures who were not considered remarkable by worldly standards but were used powerfully by God. “God does extraordinary things through ordinary people,” Laurie said. “He’s looking for availability, not perfection.”

Laurie shared his personal story of transformation, from a troubled teenager to an evangelist, as a testimony of how God calls unexpected people to carry out His work. His journey was recently portrayed in the film Jesus Revolution, which depicts the spiritual revival of the 1970s and Laurie’s early ministry years.

According to CP, Laurie also reflected on his relationship with the late Billy Graham, describing him as a model of humility and unwavering dedication. He recalled how Graham once encouraged him to “always preach the Gospel clearly and simply,” a lesson Laurie says he still follows today.

The pastor’s message at the conference centered on empowering believers to take personal ownership of the Great Commission. He urged attendees not to underestimate the power of one-on-one conversations or the impact of sharing their faith within their everyday circles. “You don’t need a stage or a microphone to be a witness,” Laurie said. “You just need a willing heart and the courage to speak.”

Laurie’s vision for accessible evangelism is also captured in his book Tell Someone, which offers practical guidance for those seeking to share the Good News in their own lives.

As churches worldwide seek to reignite outreach in a post-pandemic era, Laurie’s call is a reminder that the mission of evangelism remains—simple, urgent, and open to all.
