The Presbyterian Church (USA)- the largest Presbyterian denomination the United States with more than 2.4 million members - elected the Reverend Clifton Kirkpatrick as its Stated Clerk, during the denomination's 216th General Assembly on July 2. Kirkpatrick, who ran against three evangelicals, will be serving his third four-year term on the position as the highest ecclesiastical and constitutional officer and the second highest paid member in the denomination.
