Secretary of Inter-Ecclesiastical Committee Calls for Unity Among Christians

The executive secretary of the Inter-Ecclesiastical Committee for Peace in Angola (COIEPA), Toni Nzinga, appealed on Saturday, in the northern Uje province, to christians to unite for the promotion of human rights and family stability in Angola.

Toni Nzinga was speaking to journalists at the end of a seminar on "The Church and the Construction of Peace", having said that COIEPA is committed to training "peace monitors" so that the ecclesiatical unity can be spread in the communities.

"We are entering a new phase of promotion for a new vision which will stimulate the unity among christians and re-create human relations", he said.

He also stated that COIEPA will put foward themes relating to the internal situation in Angola so that the churches may contribute, in their sermons and ecumenical messages, to the spreading of the notion of Christian Solidarity, educating society about the principle of forgiveness.

The two-day seminar, chaired by COIEPA's secretary, touched on matters relating to national reconciliation, the disarmament of the population and the elections.

The meeting was attended by believers from the provinces of Uje, Zare and Cabinda.
