Six members of a Christian relief organization were killed during an accident in Mozambique, Africa, last weekend. The World Relief (WR) volunteers died when their vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a large truck in the outskirts of Maputo.

World Relief president Clive Calver said driver Orlando Francisco and five passengers were killed, including two children of a Mozambique pastor. WR officials said those who died were from Mozambique, and there were survivors in the crash, including an American.

Francisco, a WR staffer, was ferrying the volunteers into Maputo for a World AIDS Day rally when the Sunday crash occurred. The driver of the large truck involved in the collision survived the accident, and police are investigating the accident, WR officials said.

"Please pray for Sam Grottis, our country director, and his wife, Debbie," Calver said in an e-mail this week to WR board members. "Please also pray for Orlando's widow and baby daughter. In addition, please pray for us as we consider how to make financial support available for this tragic event."
