FOUR members of the Johanne Masowe Chishanu apostolic sect who allegedly assaulted a Chitungwiza woman and broke her arm, have appeared in court charged with assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Fidelis Botsanzara (50), Ngonidzashe Chimutsa (21), Golden Muchineripi (30) and Edguys Mazarura (15) appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Chipo Chikowore on charges of assaulting Precious Mapanzure.
Ms. Chikowore demanded the four men to November 24 this year for trial. The four are denying the charges and are out of custody on $3,000 bail each.
The court heard that on September 19 this year, Mapanzure went to the Johanne Masowe shrine in the Mayambara area in Seke with the intention of seeing her husband, only named as Botsanzara.
"I arrived at the shrine at about 6:30 in the morning intending to see my husband so that we could discuss the issue of obtaining birth certificates for our children," said Mapanzure.
She told the court that they had an altercation with her husband as she wanted some money from him.
Her husband slapped her and Chimutsa, Mazarura and Muchineripi are alleged to have joined in the assault.
