The Black Friday weekend is right around the corner, and smartphones and tablets seem to be the big-ticket items for this year's big sales event. While only a handful of retailers are saving the big surprise deals for the big day, most have revealed their big discounts in the last few weeks.

U.S. cell carriers are often overlooked for the big deals as consumers go straight to the retail giants like Walmart or Target. But the truth is, you can often find some good bargains straight through the carriers themselves. And in this article, we're going to focus on what Verizon Wireless and Sprint have to offer.

Verizon Wireless

First off, you can grab the popular Samsung Galaxy S5 for free after a $50 mail-in rebate. The Galaxy Note 4 will drop down to $199, while the Sony Xperia Z3v, and Verizon Ellipsis 7 and 8 tablets are all free as well. Of course, these all depend on signing up for a two-year contract with Verizon and are all available on Black Friday only. The carrier is also offering a $100 sale on all new Android smartphones purchased through the carrier.

As for the whole Black Friday weekend, including Cyber Monday, you can grab yourself a Moto X (Football Leather edition) for free, as well as a Droid Turbo for $99. The LG G Pad 10.1 has been dropped down to $79 and you can grab any iPad for $100 off when you purchase a new iPhone through Verizon.

If you're more into the wearable smart devices, LG's new G Watch has a significant price cut through Verizon down to $99 from $229. That's $130 savings on a new device that's really taking the market by storm.

But if you already have the latest and greatest devices and just want to accessorize, Verizon has you covered there, too. You can grab a Galaxy S5 S-View Flip cover for $19 (saving yourself $30) or if you're looking for the right present for the audiophile in your life, there are several discounts in the $40 to $50 range for headphones, Bluetooth speakers, and earbuds. The fitness guru on your list will enjoy a healthy selection of accessories for the Fitbit, including the FitBit Charge for $119, the FitBit Flex for $89, and the FitBit Zip for $49.

Sprint

Sprint is offering most of its popular smartphones for either no money down off-contract or for free with a two-year contract. These phones include the Samsung Galaxy S4, the Apple iPhone 5c, the HTC One M8 Harman/Kardon edition, the LG G2, the Sharp AQUOS Crystal, the HTC Desire 510, the Apple iPhone 4s 8GB, the Kyocera KONA, and the HTC 8XT.

Another deal you won't see anywhere else is what Spring is calling "The best value at the best time of the year" with its unlimited data, talk, and text exclusively for the iPhone 6 for only $50 a month. Unlimited data is a relic of the past for cell carriers, so this is really a great deal if you're looking to get a new iPhone 6. Sprint is also offering the iPhone 6 itself at only $199 with a two-year service agreement.
