Bobbi Kristina Brown, the daughter of the late Whitney Houston and R&B singer Bobby Brown, has shown no signs of life nearly five weeks after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub, according to a family source.

As previously reported by the Gospel Herald, the 21 year old suffered "violent seizures" last week after being taken out of a medically-induced coma, forcing doctors at Emory University Hospital to place her back into the coma.

"[She has shown] absolutely no signs of life lately," the family source told the AFP. "It is really on Bobby Brown's shoulders to let her go in peace," the insider continued, adding that Bobbi Kristina's formerly optimistic grandmother, Cissy Houston, has come to terms with the idea of removing her life support.

"It is something that the Houston and Brown families had agreed to do as early as February 11, but Bobby Brown reneged," the source said.

Bobbi Kristina has remained in a coma since she was found face down and unresponsive in the bathtub of her Roswell, Georgia home in late January. According to medical experts, the 21 year old was deprived of oxygen while in the bathtub for anywhere from two to fifteen minutes, which indicates significant brain damage. Doctors have since removed her breathing tube, but have kept her on a ventilator and feeding tube.

The young woman's mother, world-renowned singer Whitney Houston, was found dead in an eerily similar way three years ago, face-down in a Beverly Hills Hilton bathtub. The cause of death for the "I Will Always Love You" singer was ruled an accidental drowning brought on by heart disease and cocaine use.

Although the extent of Bobbi Kristina's injuries is unknown, police have confirmed they are treating her case as a criminal investigation due to suspicious bruising found on her body. Additionally, while no drugs were found in Bobbi Kristina's system, various drugs were found at the scene.

"Foul play is being investigated, including drug use and possibly cover-up to remove evidence from the crime scene," the family source told PEOPLE magazine.

Police have named Bobbi Kristina's boyfriend, 24 year old Nick Gordon, as a person of interest, as the two shared a tumultuous, and often violent, relationship. According to NBC News, Gordon was taken in by Houston when he was 12 years old, but never formally adopted. After Houston's death, Gordon and Bobbi Kristina Brown claimed to be engaged, but an investigation has revealed the pair were never officially married.

Although Gordon claims he's been prevented from visiting Bobbi Kristina in the hospital, Brown's lawyers have said, "Mr. Gordon was offered an opportunity to potentially visit Bobbi Kristina and he declined to meet the terms of any possible visit."

On Monday, Gordon tweeted, "I forgive you @KingBobbyBrown much love I wish we could get together and deal with this as fam."

Meanwhile, the Brown and Houston families have continued to ask for prayers as they decide their next move regarding Bobbi Kristina.

"We continue to request privacy in this matter," Bobby Brown said in a statement. "We thank everyone that supports Bobbi Kristina and God is healing our prayers."
