Japan's Platinum Games and Microsoft teamed up to develop the action-packed RPG title ScaleBound. The game is scheduled to become available in the first quarter of 2017. According to an Amazon listing, it will hit gaming stores on April 28, 2017.

Now, here's the latest round-up of update about Scalebound release date, gameplay and features.

As of now, Microsoft has not yet confirmed the official release date of Scalebound. Amazon is known for listing an item's release date early, but most of the time it is not always true. However, many gamers are optimistic that Scalebound wound indeed become available on April 2017.

Scalebound is a large-scale action-RPG that casts players as Drew, a young American trapped in a fantasy world that is filled with giant monsters. Drew accompanies Thuban, the last dragon in the world. The two take on an adventure to battle big monsters. Drew and Thuban have a deep connection; Drew's death will cause Thuban to die and vice versa.

Additionally, Drew has dragon arm which gives him the power to scan enemies for information, unleash pulse energy and heal Thuban. The playable character can also transform into a half-dragon hybrid, making him stronger.

In an interview with the Telegraph, Platinum's lead game designer Hideki Kamiya says Scalebound is "actually the biggest game I've ever made in my entire career." He also wants players to have a seamless adventure in the game's very large world.

Platinum Games is one of the most respected game developers in the industry. Founded in 2006, the studio released many critically acclaimed titles like Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry, Okami and Bayonetta. With Microsoft's partnership with Platinum, gaming experts have huge expectation for Scalebound.

Microsoft revealed Scalebound at E3 2014. At that time the game was part of a strategy to lure gamers to Xbox after a shaky start for the company's new console.

Scalebound will be available as part of Microsoft's Xbox Play Anywhere program. It will also be released on Xbox One and Windows PC first before it lands to PlayStation consoles.

Kamiya assures fans that he will release more information about the game in the next few months. "We're going to be talking a lot about the story as we get closer to launch," he says.
